I am excited to be working with an innovative manufacturing organisation based in Duns to recruit an experienced Maintenance Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of maintenance activity across specialist production equipment, ensuring smooth and efficient site operations.

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will lead preventative maintenance, fault-finding, repairs, and improvement projects that directly support business performance. You’ll also receive full training on their unique hypochlorous generation systems — a fantastic opportunity to broaden your technical expertise and develop your career.

This role also includes occasional travel to customer sites across the UK and potentially internationally, supporting equipment installation and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct calibration, servicing, and repairs of manufacturing equipment
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime
  • Deliver scheduled preventative maintenance and share insights with the Operations Director
  • Ensure all plant and equipment comply with health & safety standards
  • Support process improvements and contribute ideas to boost operational efficiency
  • Carry out minor repairs on pumps and production assets
  • Participate in site improvement projects
  • Provide support during busier periods including holiday cover
  • Install, maintain, and service equipment at customer premises in the UK and occasionally overseas

What They’re Looking For

Essential Qualifications

  • HND / NVQ (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Desirable Qualifications:

  • 17th Edition Electrical Installations standard

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within mechanical/electrical engineering or a manufacturing environment

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing setting

Essential Skills

  • Good Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong teamwork and confident working independently
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Effective task prioritisation

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of safety, product quality and operational efficiency standards

Essential Circumstances

  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime when required
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK and occasionally overseas
