moira” is working with a global manufacturing business that specialises in high-quality heat-seal tea, coffee, and fibrous meat casing solutions supplied to customers worldwide. With a strong people-first culture and significant recent investment in new production technology, this is an exciting time to join their engineering team.
They’re now looking to appoint an Engineering Supervisor to play a key role in supporting site reliability, leading technical teams, and driving operational excellence.
The opportunity
This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical expertise with people management. Working as part of a well-established engineering team, you’ll oversee planned preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and support continuous improvement and project activity across production and site services.
You’ll act as a trusted partner to the local management team, bringing a strong focus on leadership, quality, and safe working practices in a fast-paced process environment.
Key responsibilities
As Engineering Supervisor, you will:
- Supervise Electrical Shift Technicians, Day Technicians, and Instrumentation & Controls Engineers, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate electrical maintenance and project work, balancing health & safety, production demands, timelines, and resources.
- Monitor work orders and project progress, adjusting plans and priorities where required.
- Ensure the team has the right training, tools, and support to perform effectively.
- Track performance, addressing issues and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure all work complies with contractual requirements, legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
- Maintain accurate and timely completion of documentation and maintenance records.
- Carry out regular site health & safety checks, ensuring full compliance with company procedures.
- Ensure risk assessments and method statements are current, relevant, and followed at all times.
About you
To be successful, you’ll ideally have:
- At least 5 years’ experience in the paper industry or a similar process/manufacturing environment.
- An HNC or HND qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience leading and managing technical teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid project management capability.
- A genuine passion for quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Desirable skills (not essential)
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- PLC programming
- High Voltage switching (up to 11kV)
- Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)
- AutoCAD or similar design software
