If you’re practical, organised and enjoy a role where you’re not sitting behind a desk all day, this could be a great next step.
We’re recruiting a Facilities & Maintenance Coordinator for a busy manufacturing site in Chirnside.
This is a varied role combining hands-on facilities work with maintenance coordination and administration. You’ll help keep the site, grounds and essential facilities running safely and effectively, while also coordinating contractors, maintaining records and supporting the wider Maintenance team.
You don’t necessarily need to have done every aspect of the role before. We’re particularly interested in people with experience in facilities, site services, maintenance, utilities or a similar hands-on industrial environment who are keen to broaden their experience.

Your day could involve anything from organising a contractor or carrying out general site maintenance to raising a purchase order or supporting one of the site’s utility systems.
Responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating day-to-day facilities and site maintenance activities
- Carrying out practical tasks including minor repairs, painting, grounds and general site upkeep
- Organising contractors and coordinating site maintenance improvements
- Supporting the inspection and maintenance of site fire systems
- Assisting with the operation and monitoring of site utilities, including water treatment, effluent treatment, odour abatement, lime plant and belt press operations
- Managing waste and recycling streams across the site
- Raising purchase orders and processing goods receipts and invoices
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Supporting Facilities Operators when required
- Helping maintain high standards of housekeeping and hygiene across the plant
- Supervising summer students when required
- Working safely and following site health, safety and environmental procedures
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, dependable and comfortable taking responsibility for getting things done.
You could currently be working as a Facilities Technician, Site Services Technician, Maintenance Coordinator, Facilities Operative, Utilities Technician, Estates Technician or Maintenance/Engineering Assistant, or in another practical role with transferable experience.
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience within facilities, maintenance, site services, utilities or a similar practical environment
- Confidence carrying out general maintenance and site upkeep
- Experience dealing with contractors or external suppliers
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Basic IT and administration skills
- A practical approach to problem solving
- The ability to work independently and use your own initiative
- A strong awareness of health, safety and environmental standards
Experience using SAP would be useful, but isn’t essential.
Experience within manufacturing, engineering or another industrial environment would also be advantageous.
What’s on offer?
Alongside a salary of £35,500, increasing following successful completion of training, you’ll receive:
- Site bonus
- 36 days’ holiday
- Pension with company contributions matched up to 8%
- Life assurance
- Income protection
- Occupational health support
- Employee assistance programme
- Training and development opportunities
- Cycle to work scheme
- EV charging
