moira” recruitment is working with an established manufacturing business in Chirnside to recruit a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical bias.

This is a hands-on engineering role within a busy manufacturing environment. We’re looking primarily for a strong mechanical engineer who can independently diagnose and repair plant and machinery, while also being comfortable supporting electrical and automation fault finding when required.

What you’ll be doing

• Carrying out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across production machinery and plant
• Diagnosing mechanical faults quickly and safely to minimise downtime
• Working with hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, motors and other industrial equipment
• Supporting electrical fault finding on motors, drives, control panels and instrumentation
• Fault finding across mechanical, electrical and automation systems
• Supporting condition monitoring including vibration analysis, oil inspections and thermal imaging
• Using the site CMMS to complete maintenance records and shift reports
• Supporting Permit to Work procedures as a competent and authorised issuer
• Carrying out basic lathe and milling work, including turning shafts, machining flats and shaft keyways
• Working with production and engineering colleagues to improve plant reliability and reduce repeat failures

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally be an apprentice-trained or suitably qualified mechanical maintenance engineer with experience gained within manufacturing, processing, heavy industry or a similar industrial environment.

We’re particularly interested in candidates with:

• Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience
• Planned and reactive maintenance experience
• Good knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
• Experience working with industrial machinery and production equipment
• Some electrical fault-finding capability
• Experience with motors, drives and industrial control systems
• A good understanding of safe systems of work and Permit to Work procedures
• CMMS experience
• An understanding of condition monitoring and reliability techniques
• Basic lathe and milling experience
• A flexible approach to working within a shift-based engineering team

You may currently be working as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, Shift Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Technician, Engineering Technician or Multi-Skilled Engineer.

Salary & benefits

£50,228.70 per annum, plus a site performance bonus of up to 2% of annual salary.
